finishing up a hectic week at the cabin. it isnt easy but with a lot of pre-planning and a lot of work it still isnt easy :P
the snow is good and packed for these last days of 2021.
if you ever wish to visit a cabin in the mountains durin the winter season please have snow chains ready! they're cheaper to acquire before winter starts and it gives you time to know how to put them on!
i've learned a lot during this last week and will adjust and better prepare for the rest of this season and beyond.

just completed the outdoor patio area! started and finished it pretty quickly as we wanted it done before the first real snows of the season.
plenty of outdoor outlets, new BBQ area, and most importantly our spa finally put back up for use!
slowly we'll be adding outdoor speakers and heaters. mostly we'll wait for springtime to build a pergola. its final design hasnt yet been determined
Backyard patio with christmas lights and its own patio lights

8/14/21 long time with no updates.
super busy finishing the second floor. removing walls, adding lots of electrical updates, new beds, new walls, new paint, new carpet!
plus a few upgrades along the way to the first floor. but i believe the inside of the cabin is at a satisfactory state with the occasional upgrade coming soon as time and money permits.
now we got to the point of beginning the outdoor projects. currently in the planning phase

big updates from the last 2 weeks 5/14/21
bathroom was painted with the leftover white paint instead of just slightly thinner primer. bathroom looked very peaceful just painted. thought about leaving it as is but i had already bought the bear wallpaper long ago. prolly the second set of purchases i had made for the cabin! turns out i just BEAR-ly ordered enough! had to get creative with the trimmed pieces to finish some corners but im satisfied.
Wallpaper is from Spoonflower direct. they are available through amazon and ebay but only have sales direct. and they were easy to apply. i just wet the backside of the paper to activate the manufacturer applied glue and slapped the pieces onto the wall. had a small bowl of water with a common dish sponge to smooth out wrinkles and while the glue is wet you can slide the wallpaper around to get the right fit. keeping the paper wet from the front is enough to keep moving/reapplying . tip: if you will cover or be near electrical outlets please turn off the power.
Also as a last minute decision i picked up the floor paint from home depot. its Rustoleum Home Floor Coating. it was a 2 step process. first step was the actual paint. started with the edges. it moves like thick paint. kinda felt like an enamel. one coat was enough for my kitchen floor and then it was a 6 hour cure. after which i applied the top coat (the second step). that was a 24 hr cure. not bad as all i needed was a fridge and a microwave that i had plugged in the living room.
4/17/21 Additional
New couches have been located and priced.
New front door priced.
New kitchen appliances sourced and awaiting delivery
4/17/21 Kitchen as it stands today. the front surfaces of the cabinets were sanded and stained lighter. Still need to finish the rest of the surfaces for the rest of the drawers. The darker base of the cabinets I feel like keeping darker. a slight two-tone effect.
The floor tiles are cemented right onto the slab. I loath the idea of chipping all that out. So I've found a paint designed for this floor. Color choice is still up in the air but soon.
New LED dimmable lights are installed. Hated the old fluorescent tube lighting.
New country-ish red plaid curtains are on. Was waiting for its accompanying black-out curtains. Next time.
Before the end of the month I have scheduled installation of a kitchen vent hood, new microwave, new stove, and new fridge!
3/31/21 In Progress shot of the kitchen
3/31/21 Surprise double storms last week left maybe 4" in total but roughly 1" of snow for last weekend! Still cold enough for the ski slopes to use their snow making machines!
Kitchen and hallway were finally painted! A fresh new coat, kitchen lighting is under way.
Third couch has been removed. Its been a "Catch-All" all this time. Some inflatable beds would do better if needed here.
Brainstorming on the look of the kitchen cabinets. I should do whatever i want to them before i paint the floor.
Bathroom remodel has the major parts completed. new window and door and longer toilet. Wall priming for new wallpaper should start soon.
Outdoor projects had a slight hold as it did snow, but also attention was focused on the inside.
3/31/21
3/16/21 slowly we can feel the warmer weather and spring arrive! There could still be surprise storms though.
A lot of interior work is being done at the moment. new light fixtures going up, new electrical switches and outlets, and almost 100% done with the bathroom! :P
A nice new coat of paint inside soon and then some kitchen remodeling work!
2/23/21 Created website using Google Sites. im sure there are some limitations but for now it'll do.
Please remember to empty each rooms' trash can and all trash outside. We will soon provide recycling bins outside as well.
Old vacuum was clogged. Fixed but looking into a replacement. Lightweight and easy to carry upstairs.
Propane BBQ will soon be provided. As will outdoor seating as the temperatures start to heat up.
SNOW ALERT: Wednesday March 3rd, 21 is currently predicted to snow with a 35% chance
Chains are always required in all vehicles in snowy conditions. Ice is no joke!!!
PS: this white column is not a cigarette collector. Its a base for a plastic bird bath that covers the water shut off/on valve for the cabin .
We will look for and provide a cigarette butt disposal thing soon.
